Students work in groups led by a trained high school or college students to practiceskills and to reflect on theirexperiences.CASC provides opportunities for youth to impactpolicy at the district and state levels. Numerous bills have been introduced in the statelegislature as a result of student proposals.We have conducted programs and retreats for ASBs, entire classes, youth advisory councils in cities, and entire student bodies. At one school, CASC curriculum is taught in every classroom several times each week by students enrolled in the leadership class!

Sue M. Dykema, CAE, is Executive Director of theAmerican Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery(ASAPS), the leading organization of boardcertified plastic surgeons specializing in cosmetic plastic surgery. Sue also serves as Executive Director of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF), the philanthropic research arm of ASAPS.
Dr. Margaret Skiles has been practicing Plastic Surgery for over 20 years and was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1988.She graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and from New York University Medical School.
Ted Briggs spent most of his high school years and all of his college and graduate school years involved with the CASC program. He served as a counselor,gamma, assistant director and director of over 12 conferences in total. He also served on the State Council in 197879. The skills and tools he learned through CASC as well as the knowledge he gained through his education have helped him to excel in management consulting.
Jeff Harris has been involved in The Junior Statesmen program for more than 20 years. He was named chief executive in 2010. Career highlights include creating the Junior State's popular student run Congressional simulation format and spearheading the Junior Statesmen Foundation's urban outreach programs.Jeff attended University High School in Los Angeles and majored in Political Science at U.C. Berkeley where he served as founder and president of a political club and as a Senator in the student government.
Dr. Anysia Mayer is currently an Associate professor of Advanced Studies at the California State University,Stanislaus. Dr. Mayer received her PhD from the University of California, Davis in 2006. For the past five years she has been a Professor in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut,where she also served as the EdD Graduate Program Coordinator. In addition, Dr. Mayer has been a P.I. or Co-P.I. for NSF, NEA, and foundation funded research(approximately 1.5 million dollars) and Associate Editor for Educational Administration Quarterly, the premier journal in educational leadership.
Scott Abrahamson started his journey with CASC as a high school student leader. He stayed involved as a Counselor and then Counselor Supervisor. With several others he expanded the small group portion of the curriculum and played an active role in the refinement of the summer programs.He completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford and has been a professor of engineering at the University of Minnesota and Stanford. Currently he is a Vice President of Engineering at HGST, a high tech company specializing in storage products such as hard disk drives and storage sub-systems.
Lili Wang, former Director of Governmental Affairs at the Local Level for CASC, was elected to the Board of Directors at its October meeting. Lili is the Managing Partner of New City Advisors, a consulting firm for cross border projects between China and the U.S. Lili holds a B.A. and an M.S. from Stanford University.She was instrumental is establishing the CASC program in China.

Paige Amormino is 17 years old and will be a senior at Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa this fall. She first got involved in CASC the spring of her sophomore year when she applied for Region 3 President, after having heard about the organization from her mother’s friend. After a few of successful months with her cabinet, she was promoted to the position of Northern Regions Coordinator in November. Last March Paige was elected by her peers as State President of CASC at the Youth Action Summit of California.
Shawn Ahdout is a junior at Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, CA.He is currently the Governmental Affairs Policy Director and has been a dedicated member of CASC since the beginning of his sophomore year. He has held various leadership positions including class president of his ASB, chairperson of a cityrun Teen Advisory Committee and many others. He admires all the work that CASC does and is incredibly grateful to be a part of the organization.
Matthew Lee will be a junior at University High School in Irvine in the fall of 2014. He is highly motivated to make a positive impact in the world through involvement in his community, like through CASC. After his first CASC conference at UC Berkeley in 2012, Matthew has enjoyed being involved with CASC ever since and became Region 10 Development Director as a sophomore.As State Development Director, Matthew seeks to increase funds for CASC and to provide several scholarships for students.
Justin Ingram is an incoming Senior at Bellarmine High School in San Jose. He has had a very eventful life and although he considers himself a true Bay Area resident,he has lived in India for three years, during middle school. This experience changed his life and he was lucky enough to go to 21 other countries. He is working as a valet at a local Bay Club and an intern at Silicon Valley Technology Partnership.
